The Vacancy
We are looking for a Groundsperson to join us for the 2026 season, (April until end of October) to work in the department to assist with general grounds’ maintenance duties - grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, clearing leaves, weed control, etc.
The job would involve working five days from seven while you would also be expected to work additional hours every third weekend on average. Approximate times are 5.30am until 1.30pm through the bulk of the season. Tasks would include most mowing operations; flower and shrub planting and the usual general tasks associated with grounds maintenance.
Ideally suited to any groundsperson looking to expand their knowledge and learn about different grounds maintenance duties, planting and grass cutting duties while experiencing a different culture.
The successful candidates should be passionate about providing the best possible playing surfaces to ensure we deliver memorable experiences to every visitor at the Home of Golf.
The Company
St Andrews, separating the farmland and the dunes of the beach, was ideal for golf and, in 1552, Archbishop Hamilton issued a Charter formally recognising the right of the people of St Andrews to use the Links for golf.
Over centuries a recognised routing with set holes took shape and by 1764 18 holes were established, becoming the standard bearer for the game wherever it is played.
Over the next 250 years St Andrews Links would be transformed, undertaking a dramatic transformation of the golfing landscape with seven further golf courses, four clubhouses, a state-of-the-art Golf Academy and six official stores, all making it the most renowned golf complex in the world.
If you love golf then there is no better place to work, however that isn’t essential to be a success here. As a custodian of the Links, we don’t need you to be a golfer, we simply need you to be brilliant at what you do and appreciate the game.
